Planned Parenthood Considers Ballot Option in Michigan
Planned Parenthood knows that Michigan is a battleground for abortion issues. And they’re considering starting a petition of their own to counter the efforts of Michigan Right to Life.
In June, Planned Parenthood formed a committee for the purpose of creating a ballot initiative, and are considering their options after the visit of leaders from the organization late last month. According to the executive director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan, as cited by the Detroit News, ““We’re trying to figure out what really is the appetite in the state of Michigan to protect women and to protect women’s ability to make this choice in the way that they choose to do it…”” This news comes in the wake abortion advocates moving away from abortion as healthcare to abortion as a political movement. CTV reported that earlier this summer, the previous Planned Parenthood president was ousted over “philosophical differences”. We stated that “As more states pass laws that place regulations on abortion, the leadership of Planned Parenthood has made themselves clear: they exist to provide abortions, not broad healthcare services…”.
