Information to Share With Friends, Pastors and Churches

Churches and non-profit organizations are allowed to speak out on Ballot questions. Pastors can address the issues and churches can be involved, even by placing a sign in the church yard! Please review these legal guidelines for pastors and churches.

Church Bulletin Insert: With your pastor's permission, these half-page bulletin inserts may be placed in the bulletin or handed out as a flier after church services on Sunday (26th or Nov 2nd).

Pro-life & family State Representative Jack Hoogendyk is running to replace liberal US Senator Carl Levin. The two candidates could not be further apart on the issues.

But two of those Congressmen are Joe Knollenberg (Oakland area) and Tim Walberg (Jackson, Eaton, Calhoun, Hillsdale, Washtenaw, Branch & Lenawee) especially need our help. • Look online for their website and if you have questions, call the candidate. After all, they want to represent you!

Absentee Voting

To vote absentee by mail you must apply for a ballot with your city or township clerk.

Important Dates:
It is recommended that you apply for your ballot no later than October 24, 2008 to allow enough time to process your application.

By 2 p.m., November 1, 2008
Voters who wish to receive an absent voter ballot for election by mail must submit applications.

By 4 p.m., November 3, 2008
Voters qualified to obtain an absent voter ballot for election may vote in person in clerk’s office.

Up to 4 p.m., November 4, 2008
Emergency absentee voting for election.

By 8 p.m., November 4, 2008
Absentee ballots due at clerk’s office.

Who can vote absentee
As a registered voter, you may obtain an absent voter ballot if you are:

• expecting to be absent from the community in which you are registered for the entire time the polls are open on Election Day.
• 60 years of age or older.
• physically unable to attend the polls without assistance of another.
• unable to attend the polls based upon the tenets of your religion.
• confined to jail waiting arraignment or trial.
• appointed to work as an election inspector in a precinct outside your residence.
