How to Create Your own Christian Citizenship Team
I. Educate Yourself!
a. Understand importance of Christian Citizenship
b. Understand legal guidelines for what a Church can and can’t do
c. Catch a vision for what your group could look like
d. Pray!!
II. How to Establish a Committee
a. Seek permission and blessing from the Pastor
b. Identify a team of people ready to take action
i. Make sure everyone starting on same page: Who, What, When,
Where & Why; also make sure they understand Biblical reasoning
for Citizenship Engagement and why and how this team can
impact their church and community
ii. Who are the leaders? Who is responsible for what?
1. For example: Someone to monitor
public policy and cultural happenings/issues church members might be interested
in
2. Event coordinator
3. Communications: Manage email
list/newsletter information
c. Pick a name
d. Develop a Mission Statement
e. Set up goals: long term & short term
f. Set a regular time for meetings
g. Who are the leaders? Who is responsible for what?
h. Address how you will recruit “members”
i. Make sure everyone on message and talking from same ‘glossary’: it’s about
servant hood; it’s not about partisan politics or issues, but about responsible
Christian citizenship; operate from Biblical worldview perspective
III. Subjects for Committee to Monitor
a. Life issues: abortion, embryonic stem cell research, elderly care
b. Marriage: one man, one woman marriage
c. Decency/Pornography
d. Taking care of poor and homeless
IV. Pieces to distribute to your church family
a. Flyers “advertising” your group and why they should be involved
b. CTV or other non-profit organizational brochures
c. Prayer flyer: leaders, issues to pray for
V. Programs/Events you can host or present*
a. Greatest Story Never Told presentation (CTV

b. American Heritage weekly seminar (6 week time period)
c. Biblical Worldview Training Seminar
d. Focus on the Family’s The Truth Project
e. Citizens in Action Grassroots Training
f. Adult Ambassador League - day long conference
g. Bring in a special speaker
h. Choose a special issue and create an event around the issue
i. Meet the Candidate night
